Professor Tanja Kupisch
Professor of Department of Linguistics, University of Lund
Tanja Kupisch was appointed Professor of Romance Linguistics at the University of Konstanz in 2014. Since 2015 she has been a professor at the Arctic University of Norway. Tanja Kupisch also co-edits, together with Holger Hopp, the journal Linguistic Approaches to Bilingualism. Her research interests include bilingualism and trilingualism in children and adults, as well as bidialectalism, with a primary focus on syntax and phonology. She is also interested in the relationship between language and policy.
Professor Shigenori Wakabayashi
Professor of Faculty of Letters, Chuo University, Japan
Professor Shigenori Wakabayashi received his PhD from the University of Cambridge. His academic interests are in applied linguistics, especially the study of generative grammar on the morphological and syntactic knowledge of second language learners. He is a founding member, secretary and president of the Japan Second Language Association (J-SLA). He also serves on the editorial boards of journals including Linguistic Methods in Bilingual Studies. His most recent publication is Shigenori Wakabayashi (2021), “The Principle of Derivational Economy in Second Language Grammar: Doing Everything in Narrow Syntax”, Second Language Research, 37(4), 521-545.
As the representative director of the Workshop Initiative for Language Learning (WILL), he is actively contributing new ideas and practices to English language education in Japan and Asia. A recent research paper, including a report on the international collaborative curriculum based on the SMILE project, is Shigenori Wakabayashi, Jun Iio, Kumaraguru Ramayah. Rie Komoto, & Junji Sakurai, (2023), "How ICT tools can support curriculum centered on international collaborative curriculum", in Keane, T., Lewin, C., Brinda, T. and Bottino, R., eds., Towards a Collaborative Society through Creative Learning, Springer Publishing.
From 2011 to 2014, Professor Shigenori Wakabayashi served as Vice President of Chuo University and led the university's globalization process.
